ABOUT US
WELCOME TO EL AREPAZO!
We are a family owned restaurant that has been a staple in central Ohio for over 10 years. Our story began when us, Carlos and Carolina Gutierrez, originally from Venezuela and Colombia, had the dream to bring Latin American flavors from our homelands to Columbus. The name Arepazo comes from the traditional Venezuelan grilled cornmeal patties, Arepas, which we started selling at the famous Latino Festival. Upon seeing the popularity of our booth, and with lots of positive feedback and encouragement, we decided to start our first small location in Pearl Alley, Downtown (now closed) which became the lunch spot for many working in the area. The combination of dishes from all over Latin America, with a special focus on Venezuelan and Colombian, turned out to be just what Columbus needed.
Around 2010, we decided it was time to open another location that would offer lunch and dinner, a full bar, and an expanded menu. After months of searching for just the right place to open our new location, we finally opened Arepazo Tapas and Wine in Gahanna which has become a local favorite, known for its delicious food, friendly staff, and warm neighborhood atmosphere. In 2014, we opened our newest location in the Brewery District Neighborhood which is a much larger location than the previous two, with two different dining rooms, a large bar, party and event space and with an industrial and artsy feel. Our goal is to continue cooking with passion, to provide our guests with an amazing gastronomic experience, and to celebrate the union of Latin American flavors and cultures in Columbus Ohio.
